Historically important Bugatti archive on offer

A collection of photographs, typographical and layout designs of various models of Bugatti’s ground-breaking aerodynamic Type 57 touring cars and the Autorail railcar are going on sale on 21 November.

They were created for the carmaker’s promotional campaign at the Paris 1937 show and include photos by Rene Jacques and others.

The archive is being offered by H&H Auctions’ partner Dreweatt and Bloomsbury Auctions with an estimate of £15,000 to £20,000.

It also includes preliminary designs, artwork and layouts for the Bugatti le Pur-sang de l'Automobile and Bugatti Exposition Internationale de Paris 1937 leaflets.

Another significant section of the archive is dedicated to the Autorail collection. It includes 130 gelatin silver prints and 70 negatives of the revolutionary streamlined railcar, which was powered by four 200bhp Bugatti engines and could reach 124mph.
