Top Gear BMW M3 on offer at Classic Car Auctions this Saturday

Classic Car Auctions is offering the M3 Evo driven by Richard Hammond and The Stig in Series 15 of Top Gear at its 6 June sale at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

The 1996 German super-saloon was used in the Top Gear sports saloon challenge, filmed in Germany in 2010. The car did a high-speed test on the autobahn and a lap of the EuroSpeedway circuit in Lausitz.

Unlike many ex-Top Gear cars that end up destroyed, the BMW is said to be in excellent condition, with no engine or electrical faults, and a believed genuine 79,000 miles on the clock. Its estimate is £7,500-£10,500.

Guy Lees-Milne, general manager of CCA, commented: ‘It is really exciting to be selling a car that has appeared on such a world renowned TV show. At CCA we are all Top Gear fans, and we are sure it will appeal to many of our buyers, too.’

Even though CCA is a new auction house, it has already achieved good money for the E36 M3. A 48,000-mile 1998 E36 M3 was sold for £13,250 at its inaugural 3 March sale.

The M3 is one of 11 BMWs on offer at the June sale; other highlights include a 1987 E28 M5 saloon and a 1999 Alpina B10 V8 saloon, both cars have extensive histories and are being offered at no reserve.

British marques are well represented at the auction too. There’s a restored Triumph TR4 that’s expected to sell for £16,000-£20,000, and a renovated TVR Vixen with an estimate of £15,000 to £17,000.
