Chris Evans to offer classic cars worth £10m at Goodwood Revival auction

Car collector and TV presenter, Chris Evans, is to sell off 13 of his classics at the Goodwood Revival sale, which takes place on 12 September.

Several of Evans’ highly prized Ferraris will be on offer, including the rare right-hand drive alloy-bodied 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C, estimated at £2.6 to £2.9 million. Evans bought the car in 2014 and has since had it resprayed in the pale green livery of the famous 1960s 250GTO ‘3505’.

Also on offer is the 1971 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder that’s covered only 3,946 miles from new and is said to be one of the best available. It was bought by Evans for just over £2.2 million from a Silverstones auction last September, and is now expected to fetch £2.3 to £2.6 million.

Although not such an appealing model, the Ferrari 328GTS on offer has an interesting past – it was first owned by Nigel Mansell while he was driving in F1 for Ferrari. The 1989 car has only seen light use, to-date only covering 15,518 miles. Its estimate is £100,000 to £130,000.

Perhaps the most the unusual Chris Evans car on offer is the 1936 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica. The car was constructed over 10 years from 1998 to 2008, with guidance from people involved in the film, and much work done by the craftspeople who made the original car. Its sale estimate is £250,000-£350,000.

If you’re after something more affordable, the cheapest of the Evans collection on offer is a Fiat 126 that’s been upgraded to Abarth spec by Mike Jordan of Jordan Racing. Finished in bright orange, it’s apparently a re-creation of a car Jordan’s wife owned when they were courting.

In addition to the cars, Chris Evans will be selling off 140 lots of automobilia at the Revival sale, with the proceeds going to the BBC’s Children in Need charity.
